22 Do
not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone
who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks
at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and
immediately forgets what he looks like. - James 1: 22-24 NIV
A mirror does not create images on its own, but rather reflects whatever is projected onto it. If I were to stand in front of a mirror I would see MY reflection in that mirror, that’s pretty straight forward, isn't it?!
Now, if I want to see myself the way I really
am in Christ, I must look into the Word of God, for it is our mirror. The Word
of God reflects back to us who we are in Christ and once we know who we are we
will be able to conduct ourselves accordingly. Let us endeavor to see ourselves
the way we truly are in God’s sight through His Word which is our perfect
mirror.
The enemy doesn't want us to see ourselves the
way we truly are in Christ for He knows if we do, he will be powerless to stop
us from fulfilling our destinies in God. He will attempt to get us to look at
our performance, our surroundings, our failures and everything else but the
Word of God, but we are not ignorant of his devices.
As you look into this "Mirror" some of the things you will see about yourself in Christ are these: - You are a new creation in Christ, you are the Lord's
beloved, you are the righteousness of
God, you are more than a conqueror, you can do all things through Christ, your
needs are abundantly supplied by God, you are a Child of God, He is your Abba
Father, you have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places
in Christ, and a whole lot more.
May the Holy Spirit continue to remind us of who we are in Christ as we keep on looking into this blessed Mirror everyday!
